Why Accustom Is Going Web-Only

Our iOS and Android app submissions were both rejected. Instead of fighting an uphill battle with app store review teams, we're doubling down on the web app.

We have an update to share, and we'd rather be upfront about it than let you find out some other way: our submissions to both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store were rejected.

We know a few of you were watching the "Soon" badge next to the App Store button on our homepage, and some of you may have found us through the Google Play listing. So let's talk about what happened and, more importantly, what we're doing about it.

What happened

We submitted native iOS and Android apps for review, hoping to give you a more native, on-the-go way to run your habit challenges. Both submissions came back rejected. We're not going to speculate in public about the specifics of either review process — app store guidelines are notoriously particular, and appealing or resubmitting takes time we'd rather spend building the product you actually use.

Why we're not fighting this battle right now

We could spend the next few months going back and forth with app review teams, tweaking flows, resubmitting, and hoping for a different outcome. Or we could take that same time and energy and pour it into the web app that already works, that you're already using, and that we can ship improvements to in minutes instead of weeks.

We're choosing the second path.

We're going all-in on the web app

Starting now, my.accustom.app is the only Accustom experience we're building and supporting. That means:

- Every new feature, every fix, and every improvement goes into the web app first — and only. - No more waiting on app store review cycles to ship something you asked for. - The web app works great on both desktop and mobile browsers. On your phone, you can add it to your home screen and it behaves just like a native app — same icon, same full-screen experience, no browser chrome getting in the way. - We've removed the Google Play and App Store buttons from our homepage so there's no confusion about where to find us.

How to keep using Accustom

Nothing changes about how you track your habits, join challenges, or collect your winnings. Just head to my.accustom.app from any browser, on any device, and everything is exactly where you left it.

If you were using Accustom through a mobile app install, log in at my.accustom.app instead — your account, your challenges, and your progress are all there waiting for you.

Thank you

We started Accustom because we believe accountability works better when there's something real on the line. That belief hasn't changed, and neither has our commitment to building the best possible version of this product for you. We'd rather tell you directly what happened than let a missing app icon do the talking.

Thanks for sticking with us. There's a lot more coming to the web app in the months ahead — we're just getting started.
